As this is my second year living in the Gamma Phi Beta house at Indiana University, it has become second nature on how to decorate my space. My sophomore year I lived in a 2 girl room and had little space to work with decoration wise. Luckily this year I got moved into a 3 girl and have a lot more space. In Gamma Phi and a lot of the other sorority/fraternity houses at IU, the majority of us sleep in the cold and warm dorms. Basically what those are, are huge rooms filled with bunk beds that are always dark and cold. Although they sound very odd and weird, it is actually the best invention for any sorority house, because it is constantly QUIET.. and that quiet is very hard to come by living with 100 girls! But this house has become very near and dear to my heart. I have truly met some of the greatest people and friends through Gamma Phi and feel very blessed that I get to be apart of this family. It is hard to believe that this is my last semester living in 1305 North Jordan but I wouldn’t change any of my memories or adventures for anything.
My tips on how to decorate a smaller space which occupies three people, are to keep it simple yet colorful! All of our walls are cement white, which is not the most on-trend thing in the world. We used framed pictures and record covers to cover our major back wall. My roommates and I also felt like the white ceiling was a bit of an eye sore, so the best way to add color was to hang a tapestry. The tapestry really gives the room good vibes and adds the comfort that low ceilings bring. We are also HUGE candle/flower fans!! There are little things in life I love more than positive smells; they relax you and relieve stress, which as a college student… is vital. My final tip is to bring in a colorful rug. The rug distracts from a dull carpet and brings life into the room. You can find a rug like mine at a reasonable price, from Urban Outfitters.

I love the records you hung on the wall, it's such a cute idea for a picture gallery! Hah I mean, you can never really go wrong with Vampire Weekend, right?!
Living in the house is such a fun, crazy, amazing experience though! It's always fun to see the different spin each girl is going to put on her room… Plus you can always borrow things that they don't end up using for your own room! 😉
Enjoy your last semester in the house!
