I wanted to pull together a few different DIY crafting ideas I found while looking for ways to keep my creative juices flowing this quarantine. When you really start searching there are so many amazing options and fun things to do with someone else either in quarantine or via Facetime! Check out our roundup below. 🙂
MAKING MASKS: The New York Times put together an amazing how-to guide on making your own fabric masks at home! Their step by step guide is with a needle and thread, so no need to go out and buy your own sewing machine. However if that is something you would like to do, I linked a few below. If you get good at it, you can begin donating masks to hospitals/hospital workers in need. Cities are beginning to put bans in places on not wearing N95 or surgical masks unless you are a medical professional. The CDC is also considering that every American should wear a homemade mask (or something covering your face) if going out in public. Read more about that HERE.
If you do have a sewing machine at home, here is an article with a few different patterns you can use!
TIE DYEING: It looks like tie dye is back and here to stay! In case you haven’t noticed tie dye loungewear and sweatsuits are all the rage this quarantine. From Instagram to TikTok it seems like EVERYONE has one. When doing a little research, these have been really hard to find. I have found if you want to purchase, it is best to go through small business sellers on Etsy, my favorite being this SHOP. I also have two friends that are doing custom made orders and donating their profits to COVID-19 efforts! Make sure to follow Caitlyn Warakomski on Instagram as well as Shop Mila & Me for more info on their launch dates! If you would like to make these at home, for a fun project, see below for a few different kits I’ve found!
CRICUT MACHINE: Kyle recently bought me a Cricut machine for my birthday and I am so excited to use it!! Hoping to be able to start designing products to sell while donating a portions of each sale to Meals on Wheels. Please stay tuned for more information on that! But in the case you don’t know what a Cricut is, check out their website as IT IS A DIY’ERS DREAM TOOL.
CRAFTING IDEAS: Pulled together a few separate crafting ideas I found on Etsy and Michaels. These are great to do with another person or kids. The finished products could also make really good gift ideas if you have a friends bday or celebration coming up. Scroll through below and let me know if you have any favorites!
