Hi, Loves! Rachel here (for those who don’t know I am Courtney & Kelly’s assistant!) Happy FRIDAY! How crazy is it that summer is already half way over?! We all know planning + constantly being on-the-go can sometimes get the best of us and end up tiring us out more than it should be relaxing us… That said, maybe it’s the perfect time for you to take a breather and REALLY let yourself relax this weekend. For this Friday’s Fab 5, we give you the 5 ways we love to recharge our minds and bodies…
Grab a good book to read or podcast to listen to in the park…
There’s nothing more relaxing than going to the park on a beautiful day and laying out with a good book in hand or tuning out the world with your favorite podcast. If you’re a young 20-something like me looking for some guidance in your personal life, I highly recommend “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis. For you business-minded women out there constantly looking to improve relationships in your work life, “Applied Empathy” by Michael Ventura (which I’m halfway through atm) will definitely give you some food for thought. Podcast-wise, I of course have to mention Cosmo’s new collab episodes with Tinder called, “Single, Swipe, Repeat”, where Sex Editor & Host, Faye Brennan, tours the country one Tinder swipe story at a time.
Have a chill rooftop BBQ with friends
Having a barbecue with your closest pals is debatably one of the best feel good events you have to experience at least once during the summer. Have each of your friends bring something to grill up, bring out your speaker, some Summer Water ;), and eat/relax as you watch the warm day drift into night.
Take the ferry to Rockaway Beach for the day
Why take the grimey ol’ subway, when, for the same fare ($2.75), you could be on your way to chillin’ in the Rockaway sand? If you’re not in New York, head to your local beach — they say a little sand and salt water can truly cure anything.
Have a spa night with your girls
What to do on a Friday/Saturday night when you don’t feel like getting your drink on or even leaving the comfiness of your apartment? Simple — call your girls to come over (with a little vino, maybe?), throw on a face + hair masque, paint your nails, and give each other massages while watching your classic guilty pleasure TV show. Currently, my faves are: The Bold Type, Big Little Lies, and Bachelorette.
Go camping under the stars
There’s nothing more soothing than putting aside all your dramas, relinquishing your familiar surroundings, and basically dropping off the face of the earth for a few days to be one with nature. Bonfires and stars and no technology, oh my!
xoxo, Rachel
