these days. Whether you are looking to implement the trend straight from the
streets of Paris Fashion Week or just don’t feel like coordinating your get-up
in the morning, putting together a coherent look whilst mixing patterns can be
a bit tricky. Here are my 3 tips to pulling off the bold trend…without looking
like the kid you babysat last night dressed you.
1.) Stripes are Neutrals – stripes are considered neutrals in the world of pattern mixing, so if you are a newbie to the game, throw on a striped pant and pair with your boldest and most out-there print as your top.
2.) Coordinate your Colors – When your prints are all over the place, keep your colors constant so it doesn’t look like you got dressed in the dark. After all, there needs to be something that ties the look together. With my look, I kept the mustard yellow, blue and white colors constant throughout my outfit.
3.) Play with Lengths – Since I am on the petite side, I opted for shorter cuts so the amount of pattern wouldn’t overwhelm my body. If you are taller, then by all means rock those long trouser and duster coats, but until my body decides to hit a magical growth spurt, cropped tops and culottes are my very best friends when it comes to bold patterns.
