We all know that I like to push the envelope a bit when it comes to playing with trends. When it comes to sporting the double denim look, I am a complete advocate for the sea of jean. There are however, some very important “Do’s” and “Don’ts” of doubling up.
DO: Break up the denim top and matching denim bottom with a belt. Adding that touch of color in the middle separates the pieces so it doesn’t look like all one piece.
DON’T: Wear long-sleeve denim with full jean pants. “Over-deniming” is in fact still a thing here, so stick to opposites (long sleeve top + shorts, short sleeve blouse + pants)
DO: Mix shades and washes. Mixing it up can take the double denim look from Rodeo Cowboy to Rodeo Drive (see what I did there?)
DON’T: Overdo it. Denim on denim is already a lot for some to handle so heed my advice, put the extra accessories down. Keep things simple because your double denim speaks for itself.
