What inspires you? A question we receive more often than none. This to me is such a loaded question because it could mean so many things and go so many ways. I find it hard to pin point one specific memory or action that inspires me, so my general answer to that is just.. New York City. Which in all transparency is true. The people, the places, even just living in Brooklyn. My walks to work can sometimes be only described as magical.. as lame as that sounds.
Recently I realized that there is really only one way to decide if your day has been fulfilling or not and that is in knowing if you have been inspired ONCE that day. Almost like the Jimmy V speech.. he quotes,
“To me there are three things everyone should do
every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think — spend some time
time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to
tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that’s a heck of a day.”- Jim Valvano

My version is in inspiration. So in today’s post I am sharing what has been inspiring me lately and it is not “travel” or “adventure” or a “place”. It is a person. Yesterday I was scrolling through facebook and once I made it through the massive amounts of Trump propaganda (I grew up in rural Indiana) I made it to this video. HERE. To hear the amazing Lizzie Velasquez speak, one video turned into basically me watching every TED talk she has ever done to every Youtube video. The truest of definitions of beauty. She breaks down walls and barriers that the media has set in our lives of what and how beauty is defined. Beauty is how people make YOU FEEL. This week she has been my daily inspiration and I am so excited for more people like her to pop up in my life 🙂
