To begin – it has taken me a long time to speak openly about my friend Hannah. Hannah Wilson was a daughter, older sister, cousin, sorority sister, friend, life of every party, biggest smile, biggest heart – a heart that was way beyond her years. On April 24th, 2015 our friend & sister was tragically taken from this world, just 2 weeks before her Indiana University graduation. This tragic loss left so many with a hole that will always be irreplaceable. A laugh taken that the world needed more of. A smile that has impacted so many & most importantly a heart that could have healed, helped and changed the world. It is hard for me to truly put into words the kind of woman she was. She was absolutely hilarious, beautiful, and had this laugh that just took over a room. One of our sorority sisters put together this youtube video to truly show how unreal amazing she was.
As the 3rd anniversary of her death approaches our incredible sorority sisters are planning The 3rd Annual Hoondawg Bash. This bash is a celebration of the life she lived. Completely optimistic, un-judgemental and every ounce inappropriate. This event takes place every year in Chicago and this year will be held at Joe’s on Weed Street this Saturday April 14th. To any of our Chicago followers: Even if you did not know Hannah personally she never met a stranger. She loved every human so unconditionally and knew no boundaries!! YOU CAN BUY TICKETS HERE.
All ticket proceeds will go to three of the most near and dear organizations to Hannah’s heart; The Hannah Wilson Memorial Service Scholarship that will benefit directly the LGBTQ community at Indiana University, Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center, and lastly ICAN Hannah Wilson Fund. If you are not a Chicago resident please please consider donating to any of the three charities in Hannah’s name. You can do so HERE *scroll down to bottom*
I wish that everyone in this world had the opportunity to meet Hannah. The world truly was a better place with her in it. She taught me three incredible lessons in life that I carry with me at all times. 1) Find your passion and let that guide you. 2) No matter how terrible a moment or situation may be you can always find something within it to laugh about 3) The importance of family. Family always came first for Hannah.
Thinking of you always xx
