Coming to an Instagram feed near you – Bloglovin’ and
H&M’s hunt for the “Breakthrough Fashion Blogger of the Year.” When we saw
this opportunity, we wanted to jump at the chance of vying for a mentorship
with one of our fashion role models, Leandra Medine of Manrepeller. When Courtney and I sat down to right the
post together, we set out to talk about how Leandra has inspired us. But in true Manrepeller fashion we instead
decided to talk about what personal style means to us.

In the fashion industry and blogging in particular, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the pressure of labels, high-fashion and the “must-have” item of the season. But maintaining ones personal style and individuality through fashion means so much more to us than keeping up with the Instagram page next door. Fashion is about highlighting one’s personality and with this as our basis, our style is a bit corky, loud and over-the-top. We don’t dress like this because we think it is what people want to see but because it truly is who we have always been – an outgoing duo with a passion for creating a unique voice and encouraging others to express themselves in a way that is true to who they are.

We don’t work with brands just because they are the ‘it’ brands of the moment or because they are offering the best deal. We work with brands we believe in and who believe in us. As young, female entrepreneurs who are learning the consequences (quickly) about buying that extra pair of shoes instead or paying off their medical bills, we have made it one of our missions behind Mimosas and Manhattan to support fellow female entrepreneurs because that has become inherently apart of our brand, message and ultimately our style. From up-and-coming t-shirt brands supporting female equality, to brand new etsy stores, to fellow female run blogs, we aim to support and drive our audience to like-minded brands because that is exactly what our followers see in us. With all of this in mind – we have built a blog and a brand we are proud to call ours and have found a voice that we aim to continue carve out in the fashion industry. Seeking the mentorship of Manrepeller’s Leandra Medine is an ultimate goals of ours, but just having a voice like hers in this industry that is truly unique to her own personality is a true inspiration to to our own brand identity.
