Isn’t it normal to frolick around with
flowers, giant lollypops and balloons in the middle of the day? For Helena Glazer Hodne of
Brooklyn Blonde – why yes, yes it is.
This past week, we were chosen to shoot for Motrola’s #MotoShoot, by famous fashion photographer, Justin Campbell – shot on the Moto X Pure Edition 21 megapixel camera alongside Helena. Once I found out that I was going to have the
opportunity to chat with one of my favorite bloggers, I immediately ran to my
computer and began typing up a list of questions I wanted to ask her. Helena was nice enough to answer all of
my questions and bestow some of her invaluable blogging wisdom onto us and I
want to share it with you all!

Quality Over Quantity
For most of us, blogging is a second job
that we end up squeezing into the wee hours of the morning, or surrender over our precious Friday nights. Sometimes keeping up
with everything can really begin to be just too much to juggle and the quality of posts can be effected. Helena mentioned that at times she published posts she was not that happy with for the sole sake of
producing content. She emphasized the importance quality content over the quantity and the effect it can have over website traffic.

Update in Real Time
When it comes to maintaining Instagram, we
switch off between Iphone photos and camera shots. I asked Helena about the importance of posing hi-resolution
images to socials however she mentioned she noticed that photos she takes using her @Motorola are sometimes more popular as she is updating
her followers in real time. It is
important to have a good balance of shoot shots as well as real-time social
updates with just using a phone camera.

Find Your Edge
The world of blogging has become overly
saturated and the market is much harder to break into now then it was 5 years
ago. It is important to find your
“edge” and really point out what makes you, and your blog different.

While some of these might seem a bit self-explanatory, it’s great to be reminded and heard verbalized by one of the top bloggers in the industry. With the start of New York Fashion Week and the craziness that will soon cummence, this shoot and meeting Helena came at the perfect time to get that little push I needed!

What an awesome opportunity – and these photos are too cute! Congrats!

Hi Victoria! I hope you have a great weekend! :))
Such a cool opportunity, well done gal. I totally agree with the point of finding your edge. The blogging community is continually growing and its becoming harder and harder to stand out among everyone. Finding out how you can be original is key x

I agree and that is hardest part, finding your footing!
These photos are super cool! And those are really good tips for fashion blogging! I totally get the quality over quantity. I used to blog in a rush just to produce content for the sake of having a post for the day. But I learned it's better to not post at all, than to have crappy content. Thanks so much for sharing! xoxo

I know that is how we used to be too. We used to think we had to get a post out there every single day! I am super happy we found a middle ground!!

Aw Katherine thank you! It was such a great experience!!
Omgosh I share the same struggles that you listed above!! I've definitely posted things that weren't great quality just to keep on "schedule". I used to try posting three times a week, but it's way too much for me and I need my sleep so now I'm back to two! Anyways, enough about me heheh. This photo shoot is absolutely adorable!!! I just love how colorful it is! Have a great weekend!

Thank you so much! It was such a great opportunity!
What a brilliant opportunity to both have been chosen for these shots (you look so beautiful!), as well as to quiz Helena on her blogging tips. I certainly agree with the concept of 'quality over quantity' and thank you for the tip on updating in real time, I definitely having been doing that enough on Instagram lately – thanks for the reminder! 🙂
