I have been a singer my entire life. From singing in the church choir, to musical productions to becoming director of Soulstice, an acapella group at Virginia Tech, music has always been an emotional and creative outlet for me. Since I have moved to New York, finding the time to sing and play music has been next to impossible. While my voice is rusty after giving it a year heitus, I am so excited to jump back into singing and recording with my friend and an amazing musician, Davey Hoen (check out his band Feel Free).
I connected to this song “Manhattan” by Sara Bareilles (not because of the name) but because of the true and unembarrassed lyrics. To me, this song
really depicts how New York has this crazy, intangible way of becoming a
human-like figure in your life. It’s something that can bring immense happiness
and sadness, takes time to know and love and has this over-whelming personality
that pushes it’s way into all aspects of your life.

I hope you all enjoy this tiny little glimpse into one of my first loves! I am always looking for new songs to cover so please comment with recommendations!

You have an amazing voice, girl. Thx for sharing with us.
