Off-the-shoulder tops are having a huge moment. They are seriously everywhere right now – from runway to street, everyone has their own take on the shoulder-baring look. So here is my take on the trend and why I am am loving it. Off-the shoulder tops look good on just about every body type. Skinny, curvy, boobs, athletic – so many different different bodies look good in this type of top because it accentuates a very flattering part of the body – the shoulders. We recently attended a Who What Wear x Bloomingdale’s event featuring the new Coachella trends for the season and we were seeing one off-the-shoulder top after another. One of my favorite quotes for this trend was from Bloomingdale’s fashion director , who said “the clavicle is the new mid-drift.” Because let’s get real, everyone loves a good clavicle. My one piece of advice for girls who are a bit curvier like me, get an off-the-shoulder top that lies flat on the top (as opposed to the scrunchy bands) this way it won’t stick out too much and make you look bigger. Here are some perfect examples.
Culottes are also having a moment and I am in love with these wide leg cropped flairs from Pasduchas. Because I am shorter, it is a bit difficult for me to wear a cropped pant because I don’t want it to make me look smaller than I am. The cut-out and sheer design of the pant creates the allusion of a longer leg as it shows just enough skin and does not overwhelm my body.
