Recently, I stepped into Marie-Lou & D in Soho to get my locks back to blonde. After going about six months without getting highlights, I had gone back to my darker hair shade and was looking all types of crazy. Marie-Lou & D specializes in color service and after color genius, Tre Wyrosdick balayaged (more natural looking highlights without using foils) all of my hair, it turned out to be the most beautiful “nude blonde” and absolutely perfect for the summer months!! Because I am absolutely crazy about the salon and trust them with my blonde life, we are teaming up with them to offer you all 15% off your next service! All you have to do is use the code MMMLD!
But how do you maintain your color and keep healthy hair in the summer? Chlorine, sun, heat – the list of factors that damage hair go on and on. For me, I love being in the sun because it brings out the natural highlights in my hair but that much direct sunlight dries out my hair and creates breakage. Here are a few of my summer hair care tips to keep yours locks glowing and moisturized!
1.) DO NOT wash your hair everyday – shampooing traps oils and will lead to dry hair especially during the dry summer months. I usually wash my hair around 4x a week and use John Frieda Sheer Blonde Lightening Shampoo and Conditioner because it hydrates and lightens for blonder hair.
2.) Let your hair air dry – during the summer, the higher temperatures will naturally dry your hair. Stay away from using excessive heat tools on your hair.
3.) Hair Masks are your friend – I have been using the Amika Triple RX Mask once a week and absolutely love it. It is an intensive highly concentrated treatment mask that revitalizes dry and damaged hair.
4.) Embrace the braid – Give your hair a break from styling and throw it in a fun side braid or fishtail. This undone style is ideal for the more casual summer months.
