Want to know one of our most FAQ’s?….  Who shoots your photos? Do you shoot each other? Do you have one photographer or two? Etc, etc. So let me take the time to break it all down for you. When we first started M&M we were shooting each other. With a small pink digital camera I might add… There were no photos of us together just me and Kelly taking turns. Every now and then a random person would walk by and they would offer to take one of us together and we would jump on that!! You can actually see examples of this HERE when we used to be on the tumblr platform. 

Once we each went our separate ways back to college, I was lucky enough to have one of the greatest girls and photographers right in my sorority pledge class. She not only offered to take all my pictures for free but also edit them, and shoot with me whenever and as often as I could. IT WAS A DREAM. You can view all of her stuff here @ Julie Kennedy Photography. We shot together for two years throughout college and I will ALWAYS cherish those moments together. She taught me how to feel comfortable in my own skin, pose, and most importantly work with photographers at this level. Jules you are amazing 🙂

Eventually I moved to NYC and at this point Kelly had met an amazing photographer Nick, @CoastalFlicks, he was the first photographer in NYC we ever shot with. But more importantly one of the greatest friends we would each meet here. Nick has shot us for two years now and we have grown and learned together. We have gotten to see Nick quit his corporate job and pursue his photography dreams. Feeling like we each have grown together in our respective careers.

So to answer the next FAQ.. Yes we shoot with more than one person. Which brings us to this wedding photographer from NJ who blindly emailed us one day last fall… @LaurelCreative. So where to begin with Lauren!?!? She is absolutely amazing, sweet, kind, and so talented it mind boggles you. Lauren is probably the most IN DEMAND New York City Blogger Photographer’s right now. It is amazing to see what she has accomplished since that first shoot we had in Union Square Park, where you just had this dream of getting into fashion photography. Shooting with her as her true first bloggers, we each were able to inspire each other in so many ways. Lauren has this magic of knowing exactly how to have you pose. Especially when shooting with two people.. WHICH IS NOT EASY. But without her we would have never learned the correct angles or even the correct faces to make! We owe so much to each other in how far we have come. We couldn’t be more proud to be apart of your journey in photography!

So lastly.. yes.. Kelly and I (in all transparency) do not edit our own photos or take our own photos. But the relationships and friendships we have made by working with all of these other creatives have shaped us into who we are. And TO BE HONEST not every photographer we have worked with has been golden. We have had weird, odd, even photoshopped breast implants once! But we have grown and learned the business so much more from those experiences. 

A few other girls we have LOVED working with are Amy Frances Photography. She is an absolute dream and will take you to some of the most amazing breakfast spots in Red Hook. As well as the amazing girl who shot these photos Paola! Paola is originally from Italy and now currently resides is Williamsburg. We met her via Instagram DM and got together one rainy Friday afternoon for a cute cafe photoshoot. We had a blast giggling and learning to Italian phrases like, “You Stop Traffic!”
