I always love a good trip to Chicago and when I am able to make it there and back in a weekend, I try my best to do so. My most recent trip, the first weekend in August, was for my older sister Gwen’s 25th birthday. Gwen is currently in her 3rd year of pharmacy school at Purdue University in West Lafayette but is in Chitown almost every weekend. I mean I would be to if my boyfriend also lived in one of the nicest buildings in the neighborhood River North. (My second set of photos from this trip were taken on his roof!) My sister celebrated the big 2-5 at Freeman’s in the city and we spent the rest of the weekend exploring as it was my boyfriend, Kyle’s, first trip there! We did the Chicago River architecture tour which was actually soooo interesting, as well as a stop at Jimmy John’s because I miss it, and a long walk through Millenium Park. Kyle’s reaction to the bean (Cloud Gate) was, “I don’t get it.” So there you have that.
I was able to squeeze in a quick photo shoot while there with my favorite photog in daaa world Julie Kennedy. These were taken in a small alley way around River North. I really wanted to capture how interesting it is that the subways run above ground in Chicago. As opposed to New York where there are all underground tunnels. I think the shadow it casts is truly beautiful, but the noise is the absolute worst. All in all – besides the pics – I would stick to the underground railways.
Some of my other highlights from the trip were seeing all of my college friends and sorority sisters! It has been a tough past few weeks on my Gamma Phi Beta pledge class and to all be together in one city was well worth it. It has been amazing growing such a tight knit family in New York but there are always times that I miss the inside jokes, the laughter, and the love of my college bffs. I will be wrapping up some more highlights in my Part Two! So stay tuned 🙂

That last photo is PERFECTION!!!
It's so nice that you were able to catch up with good friends. It's possibly the best feeling in the world.
