Hi y’all! Mother’s Day is right around the corner and if you don’t know, Kelly & I are cousins through our mothers being sisters. Woo! Yes we really ARE COUSINS. We get that question way too much oddly. Our mother’s are a few years a part with my (Courtney’s) mom being the youngest, Julie , Kelly’s mom Peggy being the middle then their oldest sister Betsy.
Kelly and I love to talk about how close our moms are and how special it must be to them as sisters that we are so close. We couldn’t imagine being the women we are today without them so we wanted to spend Mother’s Day doing something super special with them as well as for them. We partnered with Uber to take our moms on a Saturday adventure throughout New York City & Brooklyn. But first we wanted to go down memory lane so you could learn a bit more about where we came from and the two women that shaped us so heavily throughout our lives.
Our mother’s grew up in the neighborhood outside of Santa Monica, The Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles. They grew up across from Goldie Hawn and went to high school with Christie Brinkley. All of these amazing experiences but neither feels the need to live in LA again. My mom living now in Indiana and Kelly’s in DC. They were female athletes in tennis and volleyball and learned fluent spanish. At this time in their lives, being a woman wasn’t always easy or an easily paved road. They had to learn to go after what they wanted and become independent completely on their own. We each learned all of our great qualities from our mother’s and couldn’t thank them enough for all of the opportunities they helped open up for us. You guys will always be our #1 inspiration and we love you!!
and now onto our mother’s day adventure….
So firstly I want to point out that gifting your mother an Uber gift card is the way to go. We have always been girls that like to do things with our parents so go on an adventure with them rather than a normal card/gift. We started our adventure by taking an Uber across the Brooklyn Bridge from Williamsburg to Fidi to have brunch at Industry Kitchen which is right on the water. It is go gorgeous and the pizza is amazing – We strongly recommend!
Once we had a few drinks @ brunch and LOTS of ZA. We decided to Uber back to Brooklyn but not our hometown neighborhood of Williamsburg but instead Dumbo. Our mother’s are obsessed with Dumbo. One reason being that we see Keri Russel every time we venture out there. The other just being the quaintness and happy feel. There is so much to do and see. We have fun just sitting in the grass talking and enjoying coffee.
Kelly and I have found it hard overtime to be so far from our mom’s as well as our family. We truly cherish the time we do get to spend with them and all the laughs we share together. Uber has been such an amazing addition to these trips so we can safely and easily get around this crazy without having to waste anytime under ground on the subway. We hope you all have the most amazing Mother’s Day weekends and appreciate the special moments you get to share!
Gift cards are available for purchase online at Uber.com and amazon or in-store at Best Buy and Walgreens.
This post was sponsored by Uber, but all opinions are my own
