A Saturday in Central Park.. and it was perfect. Every Fall I get this intense yearning for home. Growing up in the midwest and going to college in Bloomington, IN (located in the middle of a forest) the changing of the leaves and the temperature has always been something so magical and instilled in me. So when October rolls around in NYC and I am living in the city, I can’t help but want to escape. Working full time unfortunately makes it unable for me to pick up and go whenever I please. Therefor a quick 45 min train ride from Brooklyn to Upper West Side is the best ticket for anyone yearning for that fall flavor.
Riding the boats throughout the park has always been on my NYC Bucket List but in the 2 years I’ve called this place home, I have never had the time to actually do it. Part of me always thought the lines would be crazy or it would be outrageously expensive but to my surprise neither were true! Important fact #1 – there are SO MANY boats at the Boat House. They have to have around 200. So there was literally no line, just boats waiting for people! Important fact #2 – It is so cheap!! For everything in this city to be so GD expensive it is a wonder that the park has kept their prices so cheap. For Kyle and I to go we paid $35 for an hour but you get $20 back at the end for returning the boat (lyke what was I going to do with a boat anyway in the middle of Manhattan) so all in all it costs $15. AMAZING RIGHT?!
Important Fact #3 – They only take cash. We didn’t know this and the closest ATM is outside of the park so Kyle & I had to go on a little pre finding ATM adventure before the actual adventure. (PICTURED BELOW)
After riding the boats we spent time just taking Central Park in. Living in Brooklyn we don’t get up there much and I had forgotten how happy people are in CP. We saw a marriage proposal, we saw kids running through bubbles, engagement photo shoots in The Mall and just overall bliss. With so much of the world turning to turmoil it is Saturdays like this I appreciate and hold near and dear to my heart. See below for all of my complete photo album <3
