As I am currently on a plane back home to Cincinnati, my mind couldn’t help but to wander to all of the beautiful places that I have yet to have gone. I decided to put together a travel wishlist to hold myself accountable to hopefully getting to these 10 beautiful places in the next 5 years! It may seem a little out of reach but with planning and finding great travel partners I know it is achievable!
Maldives – This is one I may save for a more monumental moment in my life such as a honey moon (not that, that is happening anytime soon lol!!) just because it is so far away! I remember seeing photos of this beautiful island when I first moved to NYC and it started to become a popular blogger destination. I fell immediately in love! It seems so secluded, private and peaceful. Definitely #1 on my list!
Singapore – I am 100% riding that Crazy Rich Asians train but who can blame me! I recently read that once the movie was released the tourism to the country of Singapore sky rocketed. Which sounds completely accurate and understandable based on how beautifully shot the country was in the movie. From the outside looking in it looks so absolutely jaw dropping and intriguing that I couldn’t help but add it to my list.
Bali, Indonesia – Bali has been on my list since (another who can blame me) I read the novel Eat, Pray, Love. For those who don’t know Bali is the Love portion of Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel and the way she wrote about the country just captivated me. I remember trying to figure out if it was possible to study abroad there in college! I sat on my laptop and looked at program after program trying to find a way to make it work, which unfortunately ended up not panning out.
This is a destination that I know I will have to book on a whim. I have also heard it is cheap, cheap, cheap and coming from New York City means I will hopefully save a lot of $$!!
Greece – I decided to opt out of going to Greece when I was studying abroad in college because I thought it would be a place I would end up traveling to at some other point in my life. I still haven’t made it that way but it is on my list for the next 5 years! I also wanted to be at a point where I could travel around the different Greek Islands more freely, with a more expendable budget, which was nonexistent as a college student! My plans are to go to Athens, Santorini and Mykonos, if you have any recommendations please let me know!
Lapland, Finland – This past year I traveled for the first time to the country of Iceland! It is now in my top three favorite countries of all time. If you have yet to go I highly recommend!
Recently I have been dying to go back to the country of Iceland and I know that I will again at some point. However in the next five years I really have my sights set on a winter travel trip to Finland to see the Northern Lights. When we went to Iceland we did see them but it wasn’t the best view! After doing some research there are so many unique hotels in Finland to see the lights – I can’t help but to try and book a trip next winter!
Costa Rica – This country is on my list because of the nature/forests the country has to offer. I have been to tropical places in the Caribbean but I have never been to somewhere where you can completely immerse yourself in the wildlife and animals (like monkeys!) to that capacity.
Cartagena, Colombia – I have only heard great things about traveling and visiting Cartagena (leaving out the Real Housewives of NY trip last season lol)! The colors, the people, the culture! This was a city I really wanted to get on my list for 2019 but it was too difficult to schedule with everything else I had going on. I also feel like this would be a great girls trip destination or somewhere to go to celebrate something big! Maybe a potential Bachelorette party?!
Jaipur, India – This recently made its way onto my list after watching, via IG stories, an influencer trip to this beautiful country and city. I was very much “influenced”, which isn’t the first time that this has happened (see country no. 1 above)! After doing a little research Jaipur, India seems like a country you can truly immerse yourself in which can be hard sometimes. When I studied abroad in Europe there were places I felt weren’t that different than America (which is not a bad thing!!) but now when I spend my money and time to go to a different country I really want to feel like I have been transported!
Australia – This is not a super CRAZY wishlist country but a place I would love to visit once in my life! I have heard that the people are extremely kind, the environment fun & the drinks strong!! Looking over my list above, this would be a country I would like to combine with another to really make the most of my travel time. If you have any suggestions let me know!
Morocco – This is another country that I had friends visit while we were studying abroad, but I never was able to make it there. Looking back I am pretty bummed that I didn’t just take a leap and spend the money, but I feel I will appreciate it much more going later in life! I also have heard it is better to be accompanied by men when visiting Morocco, so it would definitely be a place I would like to visit with Kyle!
