First off – I wanted to thank you all for your incredible support of my #MimosasandJennaRink series. It has been a TRUE passion project of mine with absolutely no monetary benefit. It’s something that I wanted to take on creatively for myself! I have loved the movie ever since the film’s release in 2004 and used to watch it whenever I was feeling sad or down. I’ve seen it over 100x at this point and it truly never gets old!
The fashion in the movie always put me in an instant good mood and seeing Jenna Rink discover NYC for the first time fills me with so much joy. New York City is a special place to me, and the way the film highlights it, is so incredible. So thank you to everyone for sharing in that little piece of magic with me.
The way I first got into this project was via last Halloween 2019. I had been scouring the internet for the infamous rainbow dress Jenna wore to the Sparkle party, it was NOWHERE to be found and the original designer, Versace, didn’t mass produce. The dress was actually flown in from Italy to Jennifer Garner for the movie. I thought I had hit a dead end, when magically I found a girl wearing a dupe on Instagram! I DM’d her and she loaned me the dress to wear for Halloween that weekend! Talk about stars aligning.
The first question I always get when I post about this series is..”Can I get a link for the Rainbow Dress?” WELL YES! The seller is back on etsy and here is a LINK.

Once Halloween was over, I had this yearning to continue recreating her amazing looks from the movie. From a deep dive on Poshmark I was able to discover the seller @cinemaspells. SHE IS A GOLD MINE. On her account she mainly sells and resells pieces that have been worn in movies or TV Shows. I was able to get a few iconic pieces of Jenna’s directly from her! After discovering Cinema Spells, that was the main push I needed to really take this seriously and commit to it, and I am so happy I did!
Throughout the remainder of this post I wanted to walk you through all of the recreations I have done so far and where I was able to find certain things. As a reminder this project started after Halloween 2019 and has continued to this day! It has taken months and did not happen overnight! I also had to budget A LOT, because all of the pieces she wore in the movie were designer. Aka… this wasn’t a CHEAP project lol. You can find more details below!
NOTE THAT I AM RENTING THIS DRESS OUT FOR 4-10 DAYS ON PICKLE (<– linked there)
Vintage 2000’s Moscino Dress – I purchased this exact from Cinema Spell’s Poshmark Page.
Pink Padded Headband (you can also use ribbon!) – ETSY
Tan Bag – DSW
One of my favorite looks from the movie! If you can remember this is what she wears to present her redesign of Sparkle to the board. Such a cute scene!
Skirt – This is an exact from the movie and was purchased from Cinema Spells Poshmark Page. It is vintage Marc Jacobs! (If you are interested, I am reselling this on my Poshmark Page. It is a bit too small on me!)
Tank Top – Forever 21
Cardigan – Banana Republic (if you are interested, I am reselling this on my Poshamark Page)
TRACKING DOWN THIS EXACT JACKET WAS NOT EASY!! If you have made it this far in the post, you now know a lot of my pieces are from Cinema Spells shop! Over this time we have become fast friends and DM regularly on Instagram. I hope we get the chance to meet IRL one day! Long story short she was doing her best to help me track down this exact jacket, which is a vintage Nanette Lepore from the early 2000’s. She had, had it a few months prior but I unfortunately just missed her. Somehow, as luck would have it, she rediscovered one and sold to me immediately! THANK GOD. You can find additional details below.

Jacket – Exact from Cinema Spells Poshmark Page
Dress – Urban Outfitters
Black Bralette – Urban Outfitters
I think this is one of the most memorable looks from the movie, right behind the rainbow dress. When I first watched the film I knew I needed chopsticks immediately, as a middle schooler does! I loved recreating this as it really was a blast from the past and made the young girl in me sooo happy. I also want to thank Blank NYC for gifting me this look. It truly cut down on my costs and their support meant the world!
Chopsticks – Claire’s (lol) but I found better ones HERE
Leather Jacket – Blank NYC
Green Cargo Pants – Blank NYC
Brown Bag – Borrowed from Kyle’s sister!
This was a fun one that I was inspired to do based on quarantine! I thought it really summed us how a lot of us are living right now. Jenna Rink was very ahead of her time!
Nightgown – I borrowed this but find a similar one HERE
Fur Ball – I couldn’t find an exact with the feather detail so I decided to buy one from Michael’s and tack it on! Linked HERE.
**I photoshopped the Magazine Publishing onto a Poetry for Dummies book!**
This is my latest creation and one I was really hoping to shoot in Central Park. Unfortunately, that did not happen based on the current pandemic but we got really close with this park and bench. At first, I really wanted to find the exact corset but due to budgeting on the project, I knew it was going to be out of my price range as it was Dolce. After doing a little digging on Poshmark, I was able to find a near exact for only $15! Major win for my wallet!
Corset – Poshmark Find
Skirt – Nasty Gal (sold out) Similar HERE
Rose Necklace – Etsy
This was another quarantine creation and not one I had originally planned! However I thought it fit perfectly and 100% described the situation we are in. Here I am again wearing the Nanette Lepore Vintage Exact.
I hope you enjoyed this walkthrough of all of my recreations thus far! I am hoping to do a few more if I am able to track down more pieces. Stay tuned!! & make sure to follow the hashtag #MimosasandJennaRink to ensure you don’t miss a post!
