Travel Diary: Dominican Republic

Home from such a fabulous and much needed vacation in the DR! It came at the perfect time of my exact six month anniversary of running the blog full time and when I really needed a physical and mental break. A huge thank you to Kyle’s family for including me on such a beautiful and relaxing getaway, I don’t think I could ever repay you guys!

We stayed at the resort/compound Casa De Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic where his family rented a gorgeous villa that overlooked the golf course and the beach. If you are looking for your next vacation spot – I highly recommend Casa De Campo! It is safe, has plenty to do and you have the option of all inclusive or doing it on your own. Also perfect for families and not many spring breakers!

I don’t want to dive toooo much into the trip because it truly was a vacation for me where I tried my best to unplug and disconnect from social media. I always will stay on top of emails because this is my full time job, but having the time to not be constantly scrolling through Instagram or the dread of missing out via IG stories was such a refreshing change. So I really wanted to go through and post photos from my trip that didn’t make it to Instagram as well as share direct links to everything I wore.

Which leads me to my next topic… RENT THE RUNWAY! I recently started their unlimited program mostly for this trip as well as a black tie event I had coming in NYC a few weeks back. I had a friend, when I worked at Macy’s, who used the unlimited and looked so fabulous each day & she always highly recommended it to myself as well as my other coworkers. After much thought I decided to go for it and have not looked back since. Especially living in New York, I don’t have room in my small 1 bedroom apartment to be shopping all the time. A travel hack that I would love to share is that I always, always, ALWAYS only travel with a carry on. (Except when going home for Christmas because I have to pack presents of course!). When I went to Europe a few weeks back as well as Iceland it was the same story – 1 CARRY ON! I hate paying these airlines more than they are already taking from me so I will only ever travel with my little pink carry on from Target (LINKED HERE) as well as my Hunter backpack (LINKED HERE). I remember when I went to the Bahamas as well as Jamaica with Lex (of @LexiconOfStyle) she couldn’t believe her eyes LOL. One of the ways I am able to achieve this is by following small travel hacks. One being reusing one piece swimsuits as tops! Example shown above of how I have transitioned that suit into pairing with my RTR Mara Hoffman skirt. It leaves for so much extra room in your suitcase!

One of the by far highlights of my trip was getting to witness Kyle’s little sister Brooke get engaged! Not only did I get to be there but her fiance also asked me to take photos of the engagement!! It was one of the sweetest proposals and I couldn’t be more excited for them and their future! A few photos below 🙂

Another highlight of my trip was getting to witness so many gorgeous sunsets. Where our villa was situated we had the perfect view from our backyard and only a short walk down to the beach. One of my favorite moments below 🙂
