We had the most amazing belated engagement trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico! We stayed in the most gorgeous hotel the Fairmont El San Juan. The Fairmont is perfect because it is located in close proximity to the San Juan airport (only a 5-10 min ride) and Old San Juan itself! Making it an easy vacation spot from the United States. Note that the travel part itself is pretty straightforward as Puerto Rico is a US territory. You do not need a US Passport to get in but you do need a negative COVID test taken 72 hours prior to arrival. Once you have your negative test result you will upload that to a portal your airline will send. Upon arrival you will scan your code and are on your way!
The Fairmont currently has all of their restaurants open! Our favorites were Cana for breakfast & dinner (pictured above), Bar Americana which is their pool bar and the El San Juan Beach Club. The cocktails and food options on site are incredible and you are able to find authentic Puerto Rican cuisine there as well, without leaving your hotel room.

We stayed at The Fairmont from Thursday afternoon to Sunday afternoon which was the perfect long weekend stay. If you are there on a Saturday/Sunday you are able to rent out on their cabanas for you and your friends for their weekend brunch party! They bring in a DJ and it truly was the highlight of our stay! I definitely recommend renting out a cabana early because they go quickly. You can choose between their Seaside, Lux or Grand packages!
If planning on going out in Old San Juan (which I highly recommend!) there is so much to do and see! One of our favorite nights was at La Placita! It is a square of bars and restaurants that are so much fun and extremely affordable! We are talking $1.50 per beer cheap. Definitely a nice getaway if you are staying at one of the more expensive hotels.
