BERMUDA, BAHAMA COME ON PRETTY MAMA. As you can imagine this song was stuck in our heads, throughout our entire trip to Bermuda! lol.
I got back on Saturday and am so excited to recap it here for you all! This was, for the most part, a pretty last minute getaway. Lex of @LexiconOfStyle and I have been wanting to do a little girls trip for a while now and were finally able to find dates that worked! We were so bummed that Kelly wasn’t able to join us. Unfortunately it would have been too long of a flight to go for such a short time, coming from LA. However the good news is, is that the flight from the US East Coast is SO short. Coming from NYC it was only a 1.5 hour flight. AMAZING RIGHT?! Making it super easy to do a weekend getaway to the island.
Lex and I stayed at The Hamilton Princess Hotel which is located in Hamilton, Bermuda and about a 30 min ride from the airport. We were able to organize airport pick up and drop off via the hotel which was super nice. The hotel is located extremely close to the town of Hamilton, only about a 5 min walk to Front Street which is where all the bars/restaurants/shops are located!
When we first arrived at The Hamilton Princess, it was almost mind blowing how much art there was within the hotel. Prior to going we had heard that there were many notable pieces throughout but honestly it was like we were staying within an art museum. They had everything from Andy Warhol pieces to Kaws and Tom Sachs. If this is an interest to you on a vacation we highly recommend staying at The Princess or at least stopping by for lunch/dinner to see it all. A rounded up a few of my favorite pieces from our stay below!
One of my most asked questions about the hotel was its proximity to the beach. The hotel itself sits on the Marina side of the island which is extremely convenient if you are looking to charter a boat for your trip (I get more in to detail on this below)! However it is not directly on the beach. The Princess offers a complimentary jitney service to and from their private beach club every 30-45 mins! The jitney ride is about 20-25mins to get to the beach side of the island and once you are there, the hotel has pretty much everything you need! Including beach side waiter service (food and drinks), showers, kayaks, paddle boards, in ocean hammocks and more! I am honestly so much more a pool person than an ocean person (I blame this on growing up in the Midwest) therefor having all of these amenities was extremely nice!
When back at the hotel they had 2 pools on their property! One adult only and one open to everyone infinity option with a jacuzzi, which is where we spent most of our time. The pool also had waiter service and you best believe we took advantage of that! One of our favorite things were the colada pitchers. In my opinion going for the pitcher option is always a better deal! The lunch was also great, Lex and I tended to split things as Bermuda is a bit more pricer than what we were used to here in NYC.
Our first night in we ventured into the town of Hamilton, which had great night life! We were told to go a few different bars, which were Dog House, The Pickled Onion and Docksiders. We hit them all up and loved each one! Dog House is definitely the most popular but very touristy as told to us by the locals. However when on vacation I don’t really mind hitting up the tourist spots as long as they are fun! We also felt extremely safe in Bermuda. Of course we were always cautious and always stuck together but we never felt uncomfortable and felt very safe walking to and from the hotel at night. Which in my opinion is VERY different than any Caribbean country I have been to. Where people advise you to not leave the resort. During the day we also stopped into a few cute shops which are located downtown Hamilton – our favorite being Urban Cottage!
On our last full day in Bermuda we decided to TREAT OURSELVES a bit and purchase a private yacht experience for just the two of us. We were practically on a honeymoon here lol. As I mentioned above if you stay at The Princess, any private boat you book they will pick you up right at the hotel! We ended up going with the yacht Play Pen, chartered by Captain Chris! We had such an incredible time with him and his crew, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Chris is from the island so he was able to give us a lot of background and history on Bermuda. The yacht also has its own private slide, jetskis, paddle boards and we brought on our own floats. You can work with Chris to figure out the timing you would like but he offers everything from sunset cruises, to catered meals, overnight stays (4 bedrooms on board), and much more! Again this was such a fun part of our trip – so let me know if you have any particular questions!
We ended the trip with dinner at one of the hotels restaurants Marcus! Which was fantastic. The service was unmatched! Our waitress Jessa, was incredible and the food was fabulous. We definitely recommend the fried cauliflower and jalapeno cornbread food wise, as well as grabbing a table on their patio. The sunsets every night were unmatched and you don’t want to miss it by sitting inside! Following dinner we grabbed drinks at the Marcus bar (pictured above) which had live music and honestly such a great vibe!
