PHEW! We just got back from Cabo and had the absolute time of our lives! We went to visit our friend Lex (@LexiconofStyle) who has been living down there for the last few months. We just had to take advantage of having a built in travel guide and boy, are we glad we did. Exploring Cabo with someone who has the “ins” at the hot spots and everything completely set up for us was absolutely amazing. I have rounded up everything we did below for your next Cabo trip!
Travel
Because I know this will be the number one most asked question, let’s first discuss travelling in and out of the country during Covid. Flight prices are back to normal (if not more) and every flight I took was completely packed. I took American Airlines and Alaska and there really aren’t any Covid regulations except that masks are still required. Getting into Mexico was really, really easy. Getting back into the U.S. is a different story. We booked a doctor who came to give us Covid tests the day before we traveled back into the U.S. and had our test results later that afternoon. You need a negative test within 72 hours of your flight. As SOON as you get results, download the Verifly app and upload your test results. It can take up to 4 hours for them to verify the results, so the sooner the better. I didn’t know this prior to going to the airport and the line for those who didn’t get their results pre-verified was absolutely insane. I would plan to get to the airport at least 3 hours prior to your flight as all parts of the process were so, so backed up. Hope this helps you all because I was on the verge of a panic attack since I wasn’t prepared.
Food
Flora Farms – It’s basically a right of Cabo passage to go here. Flora Farms is a farm to table restaurant in the lush foothills of Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. The layout is absolutely gorgeous and there are many, many Instagram moments (lol). The menu changes often but I got the bacon & tomato fired pizza and it was absolutely delicious.
La Lupita San Luca – This restaurant was in the middle of San Lucas tucked between homes, restaurants and bars so you felt like you were really apart of the town! We all had tacos that came out in mini grills which was so so cute! I ended up on a rampage where I wanted to arm wrestle everyone at the bar and yes, I won. Can’t go wrong with their spicy, skinny marg!
The Office on The Beach – I didn’t know whether to put this in the food or party category because yes, it is both. Think sparklers and party hats. Luckily, that’s our vibe. Is it touristy? Yes. Is it a blast? Yes. Just know what you are getting yourself into! We got the quesso to start and I had the coconut shrimp for dinner. No diets exist here. Our table was on the beach so we walked around barefoot and really had the best last night!
Sunken Bar at The Cape Hotel – We were supposed to go here on the first night but when I arrived, I was absolutely exhausted, so we passed. I heard it’s absolutely stunning and would love to go back!
Party
Cabo Yacht Rentals – I simply cannot say better things about working booking with them! We had the absolute best time on one of their yachts and they took such amazing care of us! Food, drinks and water toys were all included. We booked a 4 hour yacht and they took us up and down the coast. I remember laying on the front of the boat at one point, looking up at the sky and feeling so lucky to have such an incredible experience. They are great to book for a group (bachelorette?!) and had incredible service!
Sur Beach House – Sur Beach House is an absolutely stunning restaurant and lounge directly on the beach. We booked a Cabana for the day on the beach and spent the day drinking aperol spritz, swimming in the water and jet skiing. It was truly amazing! Again, the staff was incredible and the interior was truly impeccable.
Cock’s Cantina – Home of the scorpion shot. Yes, we took them. This is a great spot for a group! It has a nice (small) rooftop but has a good vibe! You can find a mix of locals and travellers from all over the world and is a fun place to mix and mingle ( & flirt).
Cachet Beach Club – This was a post – ‘The Office on the Beach’ spontaneous decision. Safe to say, while it was beautiful, we didn’t stay long. If we would have stayed an extra day, I would have loved to come back and spent the day in their beach area!
Ok, I think I did it! We really did have the best food and drink tour of Cabo! When we were there (July 2021) the curfew was still 10pm so I would plan to make your dinner reservations earlier in the evening so you have time to go out after! Enjoy yourselves!
