Kyle & I did a super fun staycation across the Hudson River in Jersey City, NJ, last weekend! It’s part of the encompassing New York City area that I’ve always loved but have never really gotten the chance to explore. It is such a vibrant part of New Jersey that lies right on the westside skyline and has absolutely gorgeous views of NYC! It is extremely family friendly, dog friendly and tons of my friends have been flocking to the area for more space (for about the same rent prices as the city!).
Here are a few things we loved doing in the area, over the past weekend!
WHERE TO STAY: The Canopy Jersey City
The Canopy is an absolutely gorgeous hotel right in the midst of Jersey City’s Art District! It’s walking distance to Grove St (tons of restaurants and bars) as well as right off the Path Train! They offer bikes and scooters to get around if you are exploring further out from their hotel. The staff was also SO kind and helpful and their amenities like their gym and restaurant are OPEN!
A FUN ACTIVITY: Sea The City Hot Tub Tour @ Liberty Landing Marina in JC!
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN THE CITY!!! & It leaves from right in the heart of Liberty Landing Marina located in Jersey City. Sea The City is such a fun way to see the NYC skylines & statue of liberty, especially with friends and good drinks! I highly recommend if you find yourself in Jersey City or looking for something different to do one weekend. Sea The City also offers Jet Ski Tours (which are a blast!).
We were able to easily walk from our hotel to the marina but if you are coming from the city I recommend taking the Liberty Landing Ferry! This lands you right at the base of where the boat leaves! You can also take an Uber but be prepared to wait a bit on them getting into the Liberty Landing State Park for pick up. 🙂
WHERE TO GRAB COFFEE: Hidden Grounds
Hidden Grounds was another spot that was in walking distance from our hotel! If you follow us on IG stories then you know that I am a HUGE Chai Tea Latte person (I don’t drink coffee) and the moment I took a look at their menu for Chai Tea – I knew I had to go! They have so many different flavors, ranging from Lavender to Rose to Chocolate. All are a MUST!
WHERE TO BRUNCH: Orale Mexican Kitchen
This is the perfect spot for a Saturday Brunch in Jersey City! The artwork, ambiance and vibes are EVERYTHING! I would recommend making a reservation as this is a pretty popular spot in the area! They have everything from a stellar brunch menu to even brunch happy hour deals ($6 Bloody Marys!!!). We recommend the brunch nachos, margaritas and taco specials!
